more of My tank

Ok update time. Ive finaly got the sand for the bottom of my tank as you can see in the first pic.
And.... Ive finaly got my volcano!!! lol. For thoes of you that know me you will know that I like My "gadgets" and when I saw the volcano with lights and bubbles I just knew I had to get one

With the tank lights out the red light really shows. Im going to take a pic later tonight with all the lights out to see the difference the volcano light makes in the tank. Below you can see a close up pic of the volcano with the tank lights on. And even with the lights on you get to see some red reflected in the bubbles but unfortunatly the camera didnt realy show that

And now I thought I would share a few pics of my fish. You may notice that I have more pics of my Bristelnose than of any other of my fish. This is becouse they are such great fish, they have great personalities and while they can be shy and easily frightened they can also be very friendly and will come up to the front of the tank to see what you are doing.

Well as I found that its damn hard to photo guppies becouse they are very fast swimmers i took a small vid of them

Second tank

Ok I finaly have my second tank and I thought I would share pics as I make the changes to it.
First off we have the tank how it looks before its been cleaned

Next I have a pic of it cleaned out

And now a pic of it with some water in and some of the cleaned ornaments. When you start a new tank yopu need to make sure the water chemistry is right before adding the fish this is called the nitrogen cycle. You also need to make sure you have a good colony of helpfull bacteria for the fish that takes out the harmfull chemicals that can build up in the water from such things as waste food and fish poop

It will stay like this for a week while i add the chemical called cycle to help kick start the build up of the good bacteria. Eventualy I will be adding sand instead of gravel as I will be putting some of my Bristelnose plecs and a few cory catfish. The sand is soft on their bellies as they search around for food. Im not sure what other fish Im going to add yet, but i will be adding a few plants and some bogwood which the Bristlenose need for them to nibble on for their digestion. I will also make sure there are plenty of hideing places for the fish.

My first tank

These 3 pics show verious views of my first tank

About Me

Greetings.

I thought I would start a blog to share with anyone that was interested, my interests in tropical fish
I started out with a 24 gallon tank and i wil lbe uploading pics of the tank and the fish that call it home. At the moment i keep 3 bristlenose plecs ( 2 common 1 albino) and some guppies

I have just bought a second hand 50 gallon tank that im in the proses of cleaning. Im going to take my time setting this tank up as i want it to be perfect and hopefully ive learnt from the mistakes of my first tank.
Basicaly like most people new to keeping fish i got what i thought was a nice size tank and realised afterwards that it was to small to put everything in that i wanted so the tank ended up getting crowded
